Giada

Decorative lime-based "Stucco Antico" with green marble stones.

General Features:

GIADA is a limebased, semi-glossy "Stucco Antico" finishing coat formulated with traditional and historical "recipes" and therefore containing well seasoned hydrated lime putty, fine marble powder, linseed oil and rheologic modifiers, which guarantee perfect product workability. The formulation of GIADA has been enriched with green marble stones, for soft and yet vibrant shades.

GIADA is suited for a wide range of applicators at various skill levels. Traditional Encausto Effects require knowledge of multiple products and application technique. With GIADA's multiple color grain of various size and high workability plasterers, painters, and decorators can achieve "Stucco Montovano" or "Encausto Effects". The high alkalinity and permeability of this lime product make it a naturally mold resistant.

Texture:

  • Velvet - No polishing with a stainless steel trowel.
  • Satin - Moderate polishing with a stainless steel trowel.
  • Semi-glossy - Highly polished with a stainless steel trowel.

Uses:

GIADA is well suited for both interior and exterior feature walls.

Natural lime plasters represent GIADA's most suitable substrate, since the product reacts chemically with them, building up a unique "body" able to preserve this lime coating for a longer period of time.

Following the correct instructions about surface preparation GIADA may also be applied over:

  • Lime and Cement Mortars
  • Premixed renderings
  • Pre-existing lime and gypsum plasters
  • Moisture-permeable plasters
  • Gypsum plasterboard

Substrate Preparation:

The substrate must be perfectly dry, dust-free, with no humidity and salt stains. " New natural lime plasters: the substrate should "mature" for a period of minimum 20 days; then apply GIADA directly on the wall, which has been thoroughly wet with water, especially in case of windy and extremely hot weather.

New or recent lime and cement mortars, premixed renderings, gypsum and plaster boards: apply one priming coat of MARMUR Fine (lime plaster coat), mixed 1:1 with NOVAPRIMER and thinned with 50-100% of clean water, depending on substrate absorption. GIADA may be applied after around 4/6 hours.

Pre-existing chalking lime plasters: remove damaged and peeling areas with an adequate tool or high-pressure washing; apply one priming coat consisting of MARMUR Fine mixed 1:1 with NOVAPRIMER and thinned with 50-100% of clean water, depending on substrate absorption. Wait at least 4-6 hours prior to the application of GIADA.

Old synthetic paints and plasters: remove the synthetic finishing coat with a paint remover containing no paraffin. Wash the substrate by means of a high-pressure washing and prepare it according to its nature and following the instructions above.

Recommended Application Procedure:

GIADA is ready for use and therefore does not require any water dilution. For applications over exterior facades make sure you have an adequate number of decorators applying the product, in order to avoid any visible joints. Work in the shade and avoid direct sun light.

Apply the first coat with an inox trowel to level out the wall. When this coat is completely dry, i.e. after few hours, apply a second coat. Using a stainless steel trowel apply the material thick enough to avoid scratching from the marble stones. When the product starts to "set" polish the wall with the same inox trowel.

For additional gloss and to provide protection apply one coat of Cera Wax. The wax treatment is recommended for interiors only.

For protecting GIADA on exterior walls, one coat of ACQUADIVETRO, siloxane transparent consolidation, is normally recommended.

Do not apply with rainy weather or with air or substrate temperature below 5° C. Protect the facades from rain, at least along the first 48 hours, i.e. until lime has finished to set and started to get hard.

Yield:

Between (0.6 kg and 0.8 kg per m2) or (13.4 - 17.9 ft2 per kg) depending on substrate conditions and the final effect required.

Specific Weight:

1,503 kg/dmc

Packaging & Shelf Life:

Packaged in 5 and 20 kg pails. The packaged product, if stored at temperatures between 5 and 35°C, is guaranteed for 12 months.

Warning:

Dispose of the empty packaging and remaining material in compliance with local laws.

Specification:

Manufactured by Novacolor Forlė, GIADA is a lime based "Stucco Antico" finish for interior and exterior decoration. GIADA is composed of well seasoned hydrated lime putty, fine marble powder, linseed oil and rheologic modifiers, with green marble stones, for soft and yet vibrant shades.

GIADA is applied in two or three coats with a stainless steel trowel over an adequately primed substrate, according to the manufacturer's instructions. The substrates will be previously treated as follows:

Wall board - Level 5 smooth surface: apply a priming coat consisting of a high quality, quick drying oil based primer. This will ensure uniform suction.

New natural lime plasters: the substrate should "mature" for a period of minimum 20 days; then apply GIADA directly on the wall, which has been previously thoroughly wet with water, in the case of windy and extremely hot weather.

New or recent lime and cement mortars, premixed renderings, gypsum and plaster boards: apply one priming coat of MARMUR Fine mixed 1:1 with NOVAPRIMER and thinned with 50-100% of clean water, depending on substrate absorption.

Wait at least 4-6 hours prior to the application of GIADA Stucco finish.
